Observing Advent – Day 19 – Patience
I took a bit of a walk this afternoon while my boys were in their piano lessons and wandered by a tennis court looking rather forlorn on this grey-skied afternoon. I noticed this tennis ball on the court. It had been left there at some point and there it sat. I thought about the patience the ball would need until such a time came when it was time to play once again. No matter how cold and grey a winter day may feel, the promise of Spring will be realized.
The words of Isaiah 40:31 speak to this. “Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength…” We may need to be patient for the Lord’s working even in the grey days, but the promise of renewal and fulfillment will come to pass.
