Praise the Lord, all you nations! Extol him, all you peoples!

For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!

We come to the shortest Psalm and shortest chapter in the whole Bible – two verses, but two beautiful verses. To me, they feel like a “back to basics type of thing” – get back to the core of what we are to do – recognize the reality of God and the ways that God is at work. I saw this image at the library today and it reminded me of the basics – the basics that we were given as children to learn – reading, writing, and arithmetic. “The three Rs” – But it started with reading. Reading is something that we have sought to instill in our children – a love to explore the world that a book can draw one into. The basics…Once again, this Psalm is a “back to the basics” of who God is and how God is at work.
