And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.“
To me, this feels like the glint of a new day that is rising over the horizon. We are a long way past when Jesus said these words and there has been a lot written, discussed, and thought about the Kingdom of God. The phrase that is most often used is “already, but not yet.” The kingdom is here in one sense, but not yet here in its fullest sense. We see the first lights of the kingdom illuminating the darkness, but there are still plenty of places where the light struggles to shine. So, tonight as I think about this already, but not yet kingdom, I pray for all those places of darkness that still are present and I ask for the light to continue to rise and let God’s light shine.
