Mark 14:1-2 – The Plot Against Jesus
It was two days before the Passover and the festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him; for they said, “Not during the festival, or there may be a riot among the people.”
Ever had the experience of coming around a corner or entering a room only to have the conversation suddenly stop – faces looking at you like they have been caught? That’s the type of conversation that I imagine this one to be here. A dark alley, a darkened room, hushed voices, plotting something nefarious. We often say that Jesus experienced many of the things you and I experience. Here’s another example – we have all been in the place of having others saying things about us while at the same time we have done that to others.
