Romans 12:9-10 says, “Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.”
I have been thinking and praying a lot about “honor” lately and how we are and are not “outdoing one another in showing honor.”
I wonder if men could honor women as people equally created in the image of God.
I wonder if those in power can honor those without.
I wonder if we could all honor the real concerns of the NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.
I wonder if we could all honor the sacrifices and actions of those who serve our country both within and beyond our borders.
I wonder if we could honor those with whom we disagree theologically, poltiically, or socially.
I wonder if we could learn more of what Paul spoke of in Romans 12 – how to outdo one another in showing honor rather than how to be sure we one-up one another.
