This past weekend, the geekiness of our family was on full display as we got to see The Last Jedi on Saturday afternoon. Side note – simply wow is my review. End side note. In the movie are these adorable creatures called Porgs, which are penguin-like critters. Our boys have become obsessed by them. So on Thursday, I participated in Take your porg to work day and our little Porg had all kinds of adventures with me. It was super fun and the kids loved it.

So what does this have to do with John 1?

Simply this…. Verse 14 in most translations says something akin to “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Another translation,The Message, translates it like this. “The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.” I love that sentence. I love it because it reminds me that God has moved in 1 every area of our lives-not just a “geographic” thing but that God has moved into every part of all our lives. Our places of beauty, grace, weakness, brokenness. Into our jobs, our relationships, our worldviews, our finances, our leisure time, even our geekiness. Thanks be to God! Welcome to the neighborhood!
