One of the things that I have found most helpful when I am working on a sermon and feel a little bit stuck is to simply go outside for 20-30 minutes. Yesterday, as I was working on what I’ll be sharing on Christmas Eve, I took Scout out on a lovely mid-December afternoon. As I walked, I saw these clouds in the sky and the two on the right looked like doves or angels to me. I took a few moments to pray at that point for the peace that a dove represents to be made evident in my life, in my actions, in our leaders, and in our world. I also prayed for the work of angels all around us – from the earthly angels who we see doing God’s work to the divine ones that are just as evident but not as seen.
