O LORD, I love the house in which you dwell,Psalm 26:8
and the place where your glory abides.
I know that I am pulling a single verse out of a larger context of this Psalm but I just adore this verse and it speaks to me in a way that might be somewhat different than the intent. My guess is that David (the attributed author) was speaking of a physical place where it was believed that the glory of God dwelt. For me, if I were to share where I experience the glory of God, it would be a moment like this…
A week or so ago my dad sent me a series of photographs that ended up looking more like paintings than photographs and he said, “I think you’ve taken a few like this.” Well, that’s how I felt about this moment the other morning. It felt like the glory of God painted in the morning sky. Nothing was crisply defined but instead the different hues faded into one another on the sky’s canvas. It was glorious and I do love the “house” in which God dwells. All around us.
